Gthanks to its scale that revealed it to the general public, the French start-up, led by a team of experts – 230 people spread between Issy-les-Moulineaux, Boston and Hongkong – weighs heavily in the field of connected objects. The company, which generated a turnover of 50 million euros last year, also stands out in the world of watchmaking with health smartwatches renowned for being the most innovative on the market, because they are capable of measuring atrial fibrillation or oxygen in the blood. Acclaimed by many French people, the ScanWatch collection, now officially CE medical certified, is enriched with a more watchmaking and sportier version: the ScanWatch Horizon. We tested it.
Ambition. Like all the models in the collection, the watch is intended to be a doctor at hand. More precisely, a discreet and easy-to-use everyday tool capable of collecting a lot of medical data and transmitting it to a health professional for him to issue a diagnosis. While the functions of the watch remain, the design has been completely redesigned to reach out to a new clientele.
Look. With its rotating bezel and luminescent indexes, this hybrid watch takes up the aesthetic codes of diving watches. If it is not ISO 6425 certified (official standard that certifies diving watches, editor’s note), it is waterproof up to 100 meters (10 atm).
Feature. This beautiful accessory is also essential for health since it allows the recording of a medical-grade ECG, the measurement of oxygen saturation in the blood and a detailed monitoring of activity as well as sleep. An application allows you to communicate the collected data directly to your doctor. More anecdotal, but very practical, the vibrating wrist alarm clock option allows you to wake up without waking others!
The most. Discretion, waterproofness and autonomy of 30 days. So many elements that make it possible to wear the watch all the time.
The least. If the watch remains discreet, its larger volume makes it less comfortable to wear at night. It does not have a microphone or GPS functions.
Price. 499.95 euros (that’s 200 euros more than the classic ScanWatch).
